Cookies

Day One:

Who doesn't love cookies? I've tried baking cookies before, but they always turn out just a little bit....wrong. They don't' taste bad, I follow the recipe, but there's just been something...off.

Until today.

Today, I made a wonderful batch of cookies, not only making double the amount I normally do (with the same amount of dough for one batch), but also the closest to tasting like my mom's I've ever been.

The recipe is an alteration of a recipe from my mother's collection.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Calories: 90 per serving (approximately 2 cookies)

Prep: Pre-set oven to 350˚; gather ingredients

Ingredients:
1/2 cup Shortening (butter flavored)
1/2 cup butter
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup of brown sugar (light or dark)
1/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups semisweet chocolate pieces

Cooking: Mix the ingredients. I pretty much throw them all in a bowl and mix it with a fork. Nothing fancy for me. When the oven is warm, I take a teaspoon and scoop up some dough, placing it on a cooking sheet. The cookies too 17 minutes to fully brown. Removing the cookies, I place them on cooling racks.

Aaaand.....Huzzah. Cookies.
